Arrival sets the tone

Guests should understand where to go without searching for instructions. Consider luggage, waiting, check-in or table reception as part of one arrival sequence. The first view must work at busy times, not only in an empty photograph.

Separate intersecting routes

Guest and service paths meet at key points. Map those intersections early so deliveries, housekeeping or clearing tables do not undermine the atmosphere. Specialist kitchen and building-services advice belongs in this stage, before decoration is finalized.

Design for different hours

A space can feel welcoming at breakfast and intimate at dinner through controlled lighting and seating arrangements. Test the transition between dayparts with the operating team. Flexibility should be simple enough to use every day.

Make maintenance part of the brief

Specify finishes with cleaning, replacement and wear in mind. Review touchpoints such as chair backs, corners and service counters. Long-term comfort depends on details that look composed after repeated use.
